Instant Ragi Dosa | Finger Millet Dosa

Ragi Dosa is a healthy variation of dosa in the South Indian cuisine made with ragi flour.  Ragi is a millet with high nutritional value. It is gluten free and hence can be included in a gluten free diet. It provides the essential amino acids, rich in calcium & iron and also helps in controlling diabetes.

In this post we are going to learn how to make instant dosa which can be had for breakfast, lunch or dinner.


Ragi Flour – 1 cup

Semolina – ½ cup

Rice Flour – ¼ cup

Curd – ¼ cup

Green Chilli – 1 finely chopped

Ginger – 1 inch finely chopped

Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

Salt – as required

Water – 1 ¼ cup + (1/4 cup to be added later after resting batter)

Oil – as required for frying dosa


  • In a bowl, take the ragi flour, semolina, rice flour, curd, green chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, salt & 1 ¼ cup of water.
  • Combine all these ingredients with a whisk so that there are no lumps.
  • Cover with a lid and rest it for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes you will have to adjust the consistency of the batter with another ¼ cup of water.
  • Mix it well and you will have a flowing consistency dosa batter.
  • Heat a tava on medium flame. Once it is hot spread the dosa batter.
  • Spread some oil on top and let it cook on one side.
  • Flip over & cook on other side.
  • Serve hot with Peanut Tomato Chutney.
